Grey matter is matter that is not black, nor white, but everything in between. It is a major component in the nervous system. Grey matter consists of neuronal cell bodies, neuropil, glial cells, synapses, and also capillaries. It involves regions of the brain that help with muscle control, sensory perception, memory, emotions, speech, decision-making, and lastly, self-control. Grey matter in the spinal cord is split into three columns, including the;

•Anterior grey column-- Has cells responsible for muscle movement.

•Posterior grey column-- Receives and transmits information throughout the body.

•Lateral grey column-- The third column in the spinal cord.
